Abstract
This talk presented a systematic evaluation of heat flux partitioning (HFP) boiling models using a lightweight MATLAB framework called XBOIL. By combining 0-D simulations with a large pool of empirical and mechanistic sub-models for bubble dynamics, over 30,000 unique model configurations were assessed against experimental data spanning a wide range of flow conditions. The results highlight the limitations of commonly used models and reveal a lack of predictive consistency across datasets. The study provides valuable insights into the predictive limits of current HFP models and outlines pathways for future improvements, including integration with data-driven and CFD-based approaches.
